Research Associate (m/f/d) with a focus on AI model development

We at LUP develop solutions based on remote sensing data for issues such as environmental protection and climate adaptation. We combine geospatial data, data science, and AI approaches to derive actionable decision-making foundations from satellite and other sensor data. To strengthen our team, we are looking for you as a Research Associate with a focus on the development of AI models.

The tasks include:

  • Conceptualizing and developing AI algorithms & process chains based on geospatial data
  • Applying and testing developed methods
  • Virtualizing and containerizing the developed methods (e.g., on VMs with Docker)
  • Communicating methods and findings to project partners and internal departments

What we expect:

  • A personal interest in data science and methods of machine and deep learning
  • A self-critical mindset and open communication culture

    • Experience with:

  • Python and geospatial libraries like Geopandas, Rasterio, GDAL, …
  • Github and CI/CD workflows

    • Interest in or experience with:

  • Deep learning methods such as RNN, CNN, Transformer
  • Large Language Models
  • Linux, Docker, and basic DevOps practices
