under management of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK); by order of the Senatsverwaltung für Stadtentwicklung Berlin

A consortium consisting of 8 companies especially the LUP GmbH, the BLS Energieplan GmbH, the InnoZ, the IÖW and others under management of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) will prepare the feasibility study for a “Carbon neutral Berlin 2050”.
Main aspects of LUP are the geodata-management for modelling procedures on future energy consumption and carbon emissions as well as landscape planning aspects.

The project will last over the year 2013, results will be presented in winter 2013/14.

Within the consortium, LUP is responsible for 2 main parts:

  • the preparation of an up to date and complete 3D – building model of Berlin and the derivation of the transmission-energy of buildings
  • the examination of the potential for carbon-reducing-function of forest and peatland in Berlin

The results were presented to the public on March, 17th 2014.
